Who are we?

Ebony Optical has been manufacturing fine quality frames since 1998 and have established strong collections with a respected international footprint and distribution. In keeping with the latest trends in eyewear, an Ebony frame is a product of passion; from concept to design; a delicately engineered craft, manufactured in the finest, world-class frame factories. We are proud innovators and leaders in this industry.

How we work

With the independent retailer in mind, we wholesale quality eyewear direct, ensuring above average GPs and a great working relationship with those who have the same work ethic as we do.

We combine a multitude of materials (Acetates, Plastic, Titanium, Beta-titanium, Stainless Steel, Nickel-silver, and Monel) perfectly applied to the most advanced retaining mechanisms and hinge devices to create a unique range of frames.

Based in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, with a support branch in the United Kingdom, we strive to provide our customers with superior service using the latest technology, innovative management styles and creative leadership; Ebony Optical continues to set trends in optical wholesaling.

  • Orders are placed with an exclusive agent, fully trained in understanding a practice and its needs whilst determining its unique style. Frame technology as well as sensitivity to pricing in the various areas form a huge part of the ‘relationship build’.
  • Orders received timeously are dispatched within 24 hours (to main centers)
  • Our stock-holding is geared for approximately 6 months, with new models being ordered bi-annually; end of line product is also available.
  • We proudly promote a very high service level, supplying replacement temples at no cost within the guarantee period (and/or comparative options). Accessories available to order are screws, nose pads and spectacle cords as well as practice tools, display racks and customized spectacle cases.
